Wheel Tax, LOIT, COIT, Dog Tax

Posted on Updated on

Here come the taxes!  Guess who wants to add more taxes to a community with an unemployment rate hovering at 10%?  Our elected officials have got the pen to the paper and instead of balancing a budget, living within their means, consolidating and streamlining government the answer is TAX!

If you drive a car, I’ll tax the streets.

For two years (probably longer if you remember the taxpayer’s advocate group called ACT) the citizens of Delaware county and Muncie proper have requested of our officials to please, please get the budget under control.

They haven’t done nothing. (For those who can’t play Youtube, the words are at the end of this post.)

Two great articles in the Star Press’ Sunday edition. One from our Mayor Sharon McShurley. You go, girl! The other from one of my favorite journalists, Larry Riley. Take a peek, if you dare.

You haven’t Done Nothing  by Stevie Wonder

We are amazed but not amused
By all the things you say that you’ll do
Though much concerned but not involved
With decisions that are made by you

But we are sick and tired of hearing your song
Telling how you are gonna change right from wrong
‘Cause if you really want to hear our views
“You haven’t done nothing”!

It’s not too cool to be ridiculed
But you brought this upon yourself
The world is tired of pacifiers
We want the truth and nothing else

And we are sick and tired of hearing your song
Telling how you are gonna change right from wrong
‘Cause if you really want to hear our views
“You haven’t done nothing”!

We would not care to wake up to the nightmare
That’s becoming real life
But when mislead who knows a person’s mind
Can turn as cold as ice un hum

Why do you keep on making us hear your song
Telling us how you are changing right from wrong
‘Cause if you really want to hear our views
“You haven’t done nothing”!
Yeah
