Muncie Action Plan in Need of a Volunteer Coordinator

Posted on

Muncie Action Plan (a/k/a MAP) is a community based action plan designed to improve the quality of our city. The consultant company fees were funded through HUD, economic development funds, Ivy Tech and Ball Foundation. The implementation and success are dependant upon the citizens of Muncie, Indiana.

The steering committee and task force was made-up entirely with volunteers. With generous donation from private foundations, MAP has received over $41,000 in five months.

The Community Foundation of Muncie and Delaware County has awarded $13,776 from the Hamer and Phyllis Shafer Fund for a part-time administrator to coordinate volunteers in implementing the public’s 47 recommended actions in the plan.
“With five task forces gearing up, it’s an enormous amount of work,” said Virginia Nilles, committee co-chairman and director of the Muncie Public Library. “We need someone to coordinate all the volunteers we hope to get on Nov. 30.” SP 11-20-10

This is an exciting time for our city. Special thanks to Muncie Mayor Sharon McShurley, community leaders and foundations all of which have donated financially and willingly given of their time.

Kudos to the Citizens of Muncie for believing in our city.
